Copilot by sector
Microsoft Copilot for professional services
For accountants, lawyers, consultants and advisory firms it all comes down to time and confidentiality. Microsoft 365 Copilot takes non-billable work off your hands — research, proposals, file analysis and minutes — within the rights and labels you already have. We set that up with sector awareness, with confidentiality first. Professional services is one of the sectors where we do this, not the only one.
The pressure on professionals
Too much time away from the client
Professional services firms spend on average 63.8% of their time on clients; the best fifth of firms reach 86% (SRA sector report, 2024). The difference is non-billable work: research, proposals, minutes and mailbox management.
Copilot tackles that repetitive work — if set up safely. Together we decide which use cases deliver the most.

Use cases with data guardrails
Every professional-services workflow has its own data requirements. We tie what Copilot does to the right safeguard — before anything goes live.
Key: label = sensitivity label · ethical wall = information barrier · access = authorisation · DLP = data protection. Read more about labels, DLP and a safe setup at Copilot data security with Purview.

Safe within the frameworks
Confidentiality, AML and GDPR
Copilot shows only information an employee is already entitled to and respects sensitivity labels. The risk lies in oversharing: hidden or poorly secured documents suddenly becoming easy to find — even across files.
We get labels, ethical walls and DLP in order before rollout. We advise on a safe setup — no substitute for legal or professional-conduct advice.
Confidentiality & privilege
Copilot shows nothing outside someone’s authority.
Ethical walls
Information barriers between clients and files.
AML & personal data
DLP and labels on sensitive client data.
EU data processing
Set out processor terms and the EU Data Boundary.
The essence
Every non-billable hour Copilot gives back goes to your client.
FAQ
Veelgestelde vragen
Frequently asked questions about Copilot in professional services.
May an accountancy or law firm use Copilot given confidentiality obligations?
Yes, provided it is set up properly. Copilot works within existing access rights and shows nothing someone is not entitled to. With sensitivity labels per client, ethical walls and DLP you uphold privilege and confidentiality. We advise on a safe setup; this does not replace legal or professional-conduct advice.
How do we stop Copilot mixing up files from different clients?
With information barriers. Copilot inherits the rights you already have, so anyone without access to a file gets nothing from it through Copilot either. We put ethical walls, need-to-know authorisations and labels in place before anything goes live.
Does Copilot pay off under a billable-hours model?
That is exactly where it pays off. The gain is in non-billable time: research, proposals, minutes and mailbox work. Every hour that leaks there can go back to billable work or the client. We run a baseline up front so you can prove the gain rather than assume it.
Does Copilot work with our practice or document management system?
For everything in Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook) Copilot works directly via the Graph. For your DMS or practice system we connect through agents and connectors in Copilot Studio so answers come from those sources too.
Does our client data stay within the EU?
Microsoft 365 Copilot falls under the EU Data Boundary. Discuss data processing and any exceptions explicitly in your agreements with Microsoft. We help you set out these contractual and technical frameworks clearly.
Where do we begin?
With a readiness scan. We map your data, access rights and the risk of oversharing across files and decide which use cases can run safely. We then set up labels and governance and roll out under control.
